The Delete feature allows you to tag records for deletion. Once you have determined that you want to permanently delete the record you can use the Pack Database feature. Deleted records will be tagged with a black bar to the left of the record in List View and will be dimmed. By default, deleted records are not included in many processes in AccuZIP6. However, most windows include a check box so you can choose whether or not you want to include the deleted items in the process.
Follow the steps below to tag records for deletion:
To Delete one record at a time:
Click on the record that you want to delete.
Click on the Delete/Recall button in the toolbar.
The record will be dimmed in the list and a black bar will appear to the left of the record.
To Delete a group of records:
From the Edit menu, choose Delete. The Delete window will appear:
Delete Window
Click on the desired radio button that will best determine your scope for deleting records. For information on scope radio buttons, see Consistent Window Formats.
Check the Pack Database box if you want all deleted records PERMANENTLY removed from your database.
Check Recall Deleted to recall all previously deleted records in the list if desired.
Check Backup Deleted or Compress Backup if desired. When you chose to backup your deleted items, a Save As dialog box will appear after you click Delete so you can choose the name and location for your backup file.
Click Delete.
When you have finished deleting records or checking for duplicates, the deleted records will still appear in the database, but they will be dim and the record will be tagged with a black bar in the left column of the list view as shown below.
When you decide that you permanently want to remove all records that are tagged for deletion from the list you will Pack the Database. See Packing the Database for further instructions.
